The Ciudad Juarez Velas got a sterling performance from pitcher Jorge Amézaga, but the Leon Zapateros still prevailed, 3-1. Amézaga threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The winner was Enrico Gómez in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Jorge Amézaga took the loss. Earning the save was Xavier Gómez. He's now cashed in 4 of 7 save opportunities.
Francisco Herrera drove in one run for Leon. The three-time Glove Wizard Award winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jorge Amézaga. It was his 26th RBI of the season.
"Enjoyed this one," Herrera told the Leon News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Zapateros go to 45-62, putting them 7th in the Zona Norte.
