Playas Dorada Pick Up 3-1 Win
|
Jaime Rivera never let La Vega get something going. The Puerto Plata right-hander commanded his changeup in pitching the Playas Dorada to a 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Rivera, now 3-2. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. Paco Torres was credited with the save for Puerto Plata, his 7th of the season.
The Playas Dorada got a big at-bat from left fielder Pedro Andrés. For the game, Andrés went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Puerto Plata a 2-0 lead.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Rivera told the Puerto Plata Herald.
Puerto Plata now sits at 18-29, while La Vega falls to 22-25.
