4-2 Win Takes Gringos to 11-9

The Toa Baja Gringos got a good effort from starter Ron Gómez in defeating the Trujillo Alto Maracas at Maracas Ballpark. The final score was 4-2. Gómez picked up the win for Toa Baja, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 4-0. Earning his 4th save of the year was Jorge Escamilla.
The Gringos got an important contribution from third baseman Stan Smith, who in the top of the fourth punched a 3-1 changeup into right-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 4th double of the season and put the Gringos ahead, 2-0.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Gómez.
Toa Baja is in second place in the San Juan Winter League with a record of 11-9.
