A jubilant Rafael Delgado joined the postgame press conference at Predators Ballpark today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Guaynabo Commandos pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the Bayamon Predators catcher, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led the Predators to a 17-7 win.

"He made it look easy," said Dave Pittman, manager of the Commandos. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Rafael Delgado singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.

In 49 games this season Delgado has compiled a .274 batting average with 46 hits and 2 home runs. He has also scored 17 times and knocked in 21 runs.
