González Lifts Sea Dawgs to 5-4 Triumph
The East Carolina Sea Dawgs stopped the Central Florida Wicked Witches, 5-4, at Sea Dawgs Ballpark. The Sea Dawgs got a big game from Diego González, who was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times. East Carolina reliever Albert Sayre got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Felipe Valentín was tagged with the loss. Joel Cardenas converted his 14th save in 14 tries.

Wes Piper, who is tied for 10th in the USCBA COL in home runs with 14, chipped in for East Carolina with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 2 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.

"I still have a lot of confidence in this team," East Carolina manager Emery MacDonald said afterward.

The 5th-place Sea Dawgs are now 25-30, the Wicked Witches 20-35.
