Houston Gets 5-3 Win
|
Arizona third baseman José Romero had a good game, even if his team did not. The Lutes dropped a 5-3 decision to Houston at Ballpark of Arizona. Romero went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Patrick McCabe, now 1-2, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 2. Rod Walker finished to wrap up his 17th save.
Houston used the clutch hitting of Wayne Mitchell to snag the win. The right fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Shastas ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
Mitchell offered a curt "no comment" when asked to discuss the win after the game.
The Shastas, at 26-30, sit in 5th place in the American Heartland Conference.
