Seki Razor-Sharp, Shuts Out Manchester
|
The Manchester Maulers manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the New Jersey Hitmen. The Maulers were overpowered by New Jersey starter Yasuoka Seki, who hurled his club to victory, 6-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Justin Jackson said.
Over 9 innings, Seki blanked Manchester on 4 hits with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Seki said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
This season Seki has gone 10-1 with an ERA of 2.04, posting 61 strikeouts in 97 innings.
