The Cold Bay Eleven picked up a win at Thunderclouds Ballpark, knocking off the Angoon Avalanche, 5-3. On the mound for Cold Bay was right-hander José López, who played a pivotal role in the win. López, the winner, moves to 3-2. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Earning his 2nd save for Cold Bay was John Ferris.
The Eleven got a big at-bat from left fielder Jorge Leal. For the game, Leal was 1 for 2 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Cold Bay a 2-0 lead.
"Nice win for us," said Leal. "Now we'll go after the next one."
The second-place Eleven raised their record to 32-20.
