Loss to Mighty Moose Extends Skagway Losing Streak
|
The Anchorage Mighty Moose and Skagway Prospectors played an exciting game.
The Anchorage Mighty Moose topped the Skagway Prospectors, 3-2, in Alaskan League action at Prospector Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Anchorage pitcher Masanobu Ozawa. In 5.2 innings, Ozawa surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The save went to Toshimichi Otsuka, number 7 for him.
Anchorage relied on the hitting of Ed Barber to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mighty Moose on top, 2-1. For the game, Barber had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Both teams played hard," said Anchorage manager Dave Nash.
The losses continue to mount for Skagway, which has now dropped 7 in a row.
