Underground Waste Great Game from Eremitani
|
The New Orleans Trendsetters had to overcome a big game from London designated hitter Giampaolo Eremitani to leave Pearson Metropolitan Park with a victory. And they did, winning 7-5. Eremitani was 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Cornelius Merklein, the winner, goes to 2-3. He allowed 5 runs on 6 hits, with 6 walks and 4 strikeouts over 6.2 innings. Shinkichi Hasegawa earned the save, his 9th in 13 tries.
New Orleans used a well-timed hit by Pablo Martínez to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Trendsetters ahead, 5-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It was a solid team effort," said Martínez after the game.
The 4th-place Trendsetters go to 29-46.
