The Cold Bay Eleven took Whitehorse pitcher Orlando Gómez's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Thunderclouds Ballpark. The final score had Cold Bay getting past the Explorers, 4-1. Gómez went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 6. Hideyori Takano earned his 8th save in 10 tries. Cold Bay has an impressive 55-27 record.
In the bottom of the seventh, with Cold Bay leading 2-1, right fielder Víctor Bernal hit a run-scoring double. The hit came off Manuel Meléndez and put the Eleven ahead, 3-1.
"This is truly a great team to play with," Bernal said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
