The first-place Cold Bay Eleven took on the Wasilla Sledge Dogs in front of a spirited crowd.

Cold Bay starter José Mendoza pitched well against the Wasilla Sledge Dogs at Thunderclouds Ballpark. The left-hander led his team to a win, 6-3. Mendoza, the winner, moves to 12-3. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up no walks.

The Eleven got an important contribution from catcher Germano Garnel, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a 1-0 fastball into left for a 2-run double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Eleven ahead, 3-0.

"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Cold Bay skipper John Robertson. "It's important to have different ways to do it."

The loss makes Wasilla 55-52.
