Hoops Walk It Off for 14th Win of Season

Fans who congregated at Hilo Ballpark were treated to extra-inning drama.
Bayissa Chipita pitched well, but his team, the Mauna Loa Vulcans, still dropped a 1-0 decision to the Hilo Hoops at Hilo Ballpark. Hilo reliever Jo Nii got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Bayissa Chipita was tagged with the loss.
The Hoops procured the win, in large part because of designated hitter John Bayles. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Bayles.
With the win, Hilo upped its record to 14-10.
