Bayles Powers Hoops Offense
A good performance from designated hitter John Bayles helped the Hilo Hoops defeat the Mauna Loa Vulcans, 7-4. Bayles hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Hoops. Hilo pitcher Thad Barnes got the win. He's now 2-3. Matsuo Yamashita was tagged with the loss. Juan Moreno picked up the save for Hilo, his 4th of the year.

Bayles had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a first pitch knuckle curve from Matsuo Yamashita, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Hoops a 7-4 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Bayles.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Bayles said.

The second-place Hoops have won 5 in a row.
