Swamp Dragons Come Back Late to Top Storks, 2-1
|
In a tight affair between the Osakasayama Swamp Dragons and the Yasu Storks, pitcher Noboru Kogawa was in the zone. The Osakasayama left-hander helped his team win the game, 2-1. Juan Martínez picked up the win in relief for Osakasayama, while Jeff Wills took the loss. Osakasayama, at 16-8, holds down first place in the Hawaiian League Ninja.
Osakasayama used a clutch hit from Alexander Patrick to get the win. The shortstop drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Swamp Dragons ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Runs were at a premium," said Osakasayama manager Minoru Ikeda.
