Lakers Get One-Run Win at West Valley City
|
The Racine Lakers topped the West Valley City Grizzlies by the score of 4-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to left fielder Jesús Sánchez. Sánchez was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Lakers on the day. Tamotsu Nagata, the winner, goes to 6-5. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts over 8 innings. Carlos Sánchez earned the save for Racine, his 1st of the year.
With Racine leading 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Sánchez hit a changeup from Mario Caro for a 2-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Lakers ahead, 4-0.
After the game, Racine manager Noburo Kurihara applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
West Valley City has now lost 4 consecutive games.
