Niigata picked up a win at Gigans Ballpark, bumping off the Thornton Sun Dogs, 5-3. Pitcher Emílio Torres was a major reason the Gigans emerged victorious. Torres went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 8-7. Earning his 3rd save for Niigata was Edel Teischer.
Niigata took the lead in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Mei-shio Wang stroked a run-scoring single to make it 3-2, Gigans.
"Winning is not something we take for granted," Wang said.
The Gigans raised their record to 42-45.
