Mothra Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop Industrialists, 1-0
|
The Kumamoto Mothra picked up a win at Hamilton Grounds, knocking off the Hamilton Industrialists, 1-0. On the mound for Kumamoto was left-hander Todd Miller, who played a pivotal role in the win. Miller got the win, improving to 10-4. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Miller allowed no runs. Álex Lodeiro earned the save, his 18th.
Kumamoto used the timely hitting of Jesús Barrón to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mothra on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Win or lose, it's not the end of the world," said Barrón.
Kumamoto now sits in 4th place in the Pacific Alliance Cherry Blossom at 32-52.
