Spell Swords Lose Late, 10-9
|
Conditions were not ideal but Kumamoto and Lodoss were able to put their game in the books.
The Kumamoto Mothra relied on the hitting of left fielder Nils Wamelink to stop the Lodoss Spell Swords, 10-9. For the game, Wamelink went 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Kumamoto reliever Roberto Rodríguez picked up the win, upping his record to 6-9. Manny Alonso was saddled with the loss. The save was credited to Álex Lodeiro, his 19th.
Kumamoto used the timely hitting of Luis Luna to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mothra on top, 10-9. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Wamelink said.
The 4th-place Mothra go to 35-54.
