The Takaoka Shiko faced a tough opponent in El Cajon pitcher Harald Lamper, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of El Cajon by a final score of 3-1. Lamper went 6 innings and allowed no runs. The Shiko, at 37-36, sit in second place in the Baja Cali League Japanese.

Takaoka used the timely hitting of Kamau Gurnah to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Shiko ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"Tough loss," said El Cajon manager Steve Hott. "But we'll learn from it."
