The Kure Arsenal got a stellar performance from pitcher Kevin Liebermann, who handcuffed the Edo offense en route to a win, 2-0, at Newark Grounds. Pablo Sánchez sewed up the save, his 1st. The 4th-place Arsenal raised their record to 48-60.
Pablo Sánchez got a big out in the bottom of the ninth. The Battousai were trailing 2-0, but Edo had the bases empty with no one out. Sánchez threw a 2-2 fastball to Eckington, who grounded out.
