Slumping Trendsetters Lose Again, 3-1
|
The losses keep piling up for the New Orleans Trendsetters.
In a low-scoring clash between Havana and New Orleans, pitcher Volmer Buscher was a difference-maker. The left-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 win. Ricardo Pérez finished the game for Havana and earned his 14th save.
The Trendsetters had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Leones going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old right fielder Kolomon Amsel came to the plate. Amsel hit a 2-run home run on a 0-2 fastball from New Orleans hurler Everton Wallwin. It was Amsel's 17th home run of the year.
"I can only hope we've hit rock bottom," lamented losing manager Alfredo Vega in postgame remarks.
The 4th-place Leones go to 67-75.
