Alleghenies Deal Thoroughbreds 5-2 Setback
The West Virginia Alleghenies beat the Kentucky Thoroughbreds, 5-2. West Virginia pitcher and Buenos Aires, Argentina, native José Flores led the way. Flores, now 7-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 5, and allowing no runs. The triumph puts West Virginia at 61-29 for the season.

The Thoroughbreds had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Alleghenies going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old left fielder Elton Williams came to the plate. Williams hit a 3-run home run on a 0-2 fastball from Kentucky hurler Roberto Rivera. It was Williams's 7th home run of the year.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Flores said.
