West Valley City Topples Namuko, 3-2
|
The West Valley City Grizzlies faced a tough opponent in Namuko pitcher Joaquín Cerda, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Puckmen Ballpark by a final score of 3-2. Cerda went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs. Jin-young Park snagged the win in relief. In 1.2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 3-2 on the season. Earning his 2nd save for West Valley City was Jonah Wellon.
In the top of the first, Ernesto Machado jumped on a sinker from Joaquín Cerda and hit a 2-run home run. It gave West Valley City a quick 2-0 lead.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Machado told the West Valley City Observer.
The Grizzlies go to 28-78, putting them last in the Rocky Mountain League West.
