Whales Tag Morning Swords with 5-3 Loss
|
The Busan Whales picked up a win at Hwaseong Fortress Stadium, knocking off the Suwon Morning Swords, 5-3. Starting pitcher Manny González was a big reason why. González went 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-5. Earning his 1st save for Busan was Pedro Jiménez.
Busan used the bat of Timmy Leeuwenburgh to capture the win. The second baseman jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Whales ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
Leeuwenburgh said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
The win makes Busan 20-49, nothing to write home about.
