The Hobart Devils picked up a win at Baypark at the Mount, taking down the Tauranga Taniwha, 3-1. Starting pitcher Micheal McShane was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was McShane, now 3-0. He tossed 7.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 5. The 5th-place Devils lifted their record to 14-15.

The Devils got a big hit from shortstop Orlando Durán. In the top of the fifth, Durán pounded a 2-run home run to right-center. His 3rd home run of the season put the Devils ahead, 3-0.

"Win or lose," McShane reflected afterward, "baseball is a beautiful game."
