Crows Top Aces BC, 7-4
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Wagga Wagga Crows and Auckland Aces BC.
The Wagga Wagga Crows had to overcome a big game from Auckland third baseman Sergio Núñes to leave Tetsunori Koike Field with a victory. And they did, winning 7-4. Núñes was 1-1 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Tim McNayr picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 4-3. Hsien-feng Xuan collected his 3rd save.
The Crows got a big at-bat from right fielder Robinson López. For the game, López went 2 for 5 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 9th double of the season gave Wagga Wagga a 4-1 lead.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said López, "one at-bat at a time."
The win gives Wagga Wagga a season record of 30-22.
