Kalamazoo Topples Neo-Tokyo, 6-3
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Neo-Tokyo Akira take on the Kalamazoo Badgers.
Kalamazoo picked up a win at Neo-Tokyo Grounds, bumping off the Neo-Tokyo Akira, 6-3. Pitcher Tetsui Suzuki was a major reason the Badgers emerged victorious. Suzuki, now 5-7, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 run.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Hunter Waltrip? The Kalamazoo catcher had a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Badgers on top, 3-0. For the game, Waltrip had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Suzuki.
With the win, the Badgers improved to 53-41.
