The Tauranga Taniwha topped the Sunshine Coast Crocodile Hunters, 2-1, in Intercontinental Baseball Coalition action at Baypark at the Mount. The standout performance belonged to Tauranga pitcher and Leatherhead, England, native Francis Bowditch. Bowditch went the distance for Tauranga. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. The triumph makes Tauranga 16-38.

Pedro Mendoza electrified the crowd in the bottom of the ninth when he took Sunshine Coast pitcher Pedro León deep. His solo home run sent the Taniwha home winners.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Mendoza told the Tauranga Daily.
