Bitters Defeat Crows, 2-0
|
The Melbourne Bitters went home winners at Victoria Field, thanks in large part to starter Benedict Kimball. Kimball stifled the Wagga Wagga Crows, enabling Melbourne to grab the 2-0 win. Kimball, now 8-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Melbourne currently is in first place in the Intercontinental Baseball Coalition Tasman League at 39-21.
Aidan MacKissack had a big solo home run for the Bitters in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Melbourne leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a cutter from Francisco Rodríguez and swatted a home run to right. It was his 5th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bitters ahead, 2-0.
"Winning is not something we take for granted," Kimball said.
