Bitters Pick Up 4-2 Win
|
Melbourne got a strong outing from Douggie Tunstall as the Bitters defeated the Tauranga Taniwha, 4-2, at Baypark at the Mount. In 7 innings, Tunstall surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Katsuhiko Hashimoto finished the game for Melbourne and earned his 16th save.
Contributing to the Melbourne win was Man-keung Zhào. In the top of the first, the 18-year old first baseman had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 2-0, the Bitters in front.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Melbourne manager Travis Mitchell.
The first-place Bitters lifted their record to 40-21.
