The Melbourne Bitters picked up a win at Baypark at the Mount, taking down the Tauranga Taniwha, 5-2. Starting pitcher Michael Murdoch was a big reason why. Katsuhiko Hashimoto closed it out for his 17th save. Melbourne, at 41-22, is 4½ games up in the Intercontinental Baseball Coalition Tasman League.

Murdoch, the winner, is now 7-3 after putting the clamps on the Tauranga offense. In 7.1 innings of work, he gave up no runs on 3 hits, while collecting 7 Ks.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Murdoch told the Melbourne Gazette.
