Devils Score 2-1 Win Over Tauranga
|
The Hobart Devils did just enough to sneak past the Tauranga Taniwha, 2-1, at Baypark at the Mount. Hobart pitcher Micheal McShane, in particular, had a standout performance. McShane got the win, improving to 5-3. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. McShane allowed no runs. Johnny Glover, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
It could have been a different outcome for Hobart, had it not been for Eduardo Rodríguez, the 20-year old shortstop . Rodríguez contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put Hobart up, 1-0.
"We scored one run," said Tauranga manager Baden Tamburrino. "You're not gonna get a lot of Ws scoring just one run."
The Devils are now 36-34, while the Taniwha fall to 22-48.
