Kookaburras Collect 2-1 Win Over Bitters
|
The Melbourne Bitters got a superb performance from pitcher Dave Hartman. Still, it wasn't enough to beat North Sydney. The Kookaburras won the game, 2-1. Hartman threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Juan Castaneda earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 4-5. The Kookaburras sit in 6th place in the Intercontinental Baseball Coalition Tasman League with a record of 37-40.
In the top of the eighth inning, pinch hitter Rick Jones came through big-time for the Kookaburras. With North Sydney trailing 1-0, he belted a solo home run.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Kookaburras manager Jason Brooks, "I like our chances."
