Crocodile Hunters Handled by Auckland, 4-2
|
The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
Auckland Aces BC starter Logan Larsen hurled his team past the Sunshine Coast Crocodile Hunters, 4-2. Larsen, the winner, moves to 2-5. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up no walks. Javier Morales converted his 21st save in 24 tries.
The Crocodile Hunters had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Aces BC going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old first baseman Ryuichi Kouda came to the plate. Kouda hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Sunshine Coast hurler Kuan-tai Men. It was Kouda's 1st home run of the year.
Kouda called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
Auckland is now 41-38, while Sunshine Coast is 33-46.
