Devils Snag 4-3 Win
|
The Auckland Aces BC got a superb performance from pitcher Jorge Arroyo, but the Hobart Devils still won the game, 4-3. Arroyo threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Raúl Pérez earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record is now 4-3. Hobart has now won 5 in a row.
Hobart used the clutch hitting of Lou Steedman to snag the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Devils ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
Steedman said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."
