Gonzáles hits 2 home runs in Rifters Win
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder António Gonzáles, the Addis Ababa Rifters defeated the Port Sudan Tycoons, 7-0. Gonzáles hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Rifters. José López picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while walking 3 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 2-2. The 7th-place Rifters are now 14-18, the Tycoons 18-14.
Addis Ababa used the bat of Broderick Jones to capture the win. The first baseman jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Rifters ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Gonzáles told the Addis Ababa Observer.
