The Djibouti Soldato scored a tight 3-2 win versus the Cairo Pharaohs at Ramses II Ballpark. Djibouti pitcher Zhong-yi Chen held his own in the contest. Albert Hayes earned the save, his 9th, for the Soldato. Djibouti is now 39-43.
Djibouti used the timely hitting of Sadanobu Jouda to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Soldato on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The want-to is there for our guys," said Cairo manager Randolph Stevens. "We'll get this thing turned around."
