Privateers Drop Mamajuanas, 5-1
|
The Port Royal Privateers picked up a win at Safeway Grounds, knocking off the Punta Cana Mamajuanas, 5-1. On the mound for Port Royal was right-hander Pedro Martínez, who played a pivotal role in the win. The Privateers' win now puts them at 10-15.
Port Royal used a well-timed hit by Carl Everett to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Privateers ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it was important.
Everett said his team "played with focus."
