San Antonio Topples New Jersey, 5-4
|
The San Antonio Calzones of Laredo topped the New Jersey Hitmen, 5-4, in Imperial League action at Mercer County Waterfront Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of San Antonio pitcher Pedro Morales. Bartolo Torres got the save, the 11th for him this season. The Calzones of Laredo saw their win-loss record go to 43-57. At the same time, the Hitmen fell to 55-44.
San Antonio used a clutch hit from Andrew Brooks to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Calzones of Laredo ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Brooks said after the game.
