Bears Deal Codgers 3-2 Defeat
|
Bakersfield picked up a win at The Oaks at Aera Field, toppling the Palm Springs Codgers, 3-2. Pitcher Jeffrey Mendoza was one of the reasons the Bears triumphed. Otso Lyytinen, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities. The 5th-place Bears raised their record to 40-60.
Yuji Kichida was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk for Bakersfield. In a tie game with two out in the bottom of the seventh, Kichida came through with a run-scoring walk. It put the Bears in front, 3-2.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Mendoza.
