Zhào Leads Lakota to 6-5 Win Over Sun Dogs
|
Sioux Falls took on Thornton in front of a lively crowd.
Sioux Falls third baseman Qi-chen Zhào was a significant contributor in his team's 6-5 triumph over the Thornton Sun Dogs. He went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for Sioux Falls. Sioux Falls pitcher Rodrigo Oracio got the win. He's now 4-2. Tyan-yu Zeng was tagged with the loss. Iván Canseco earned the save, his 21st.
Had Takayuki Yamada not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Yamada hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Lakota.
"It was a solid team effort," said Yamada after the game.
At 66-48, the Lakota are currently first in the Rocky Mountain League North.
