The West Valley City Grizzlies beat the Niigata Gigans, 2-1, at Ballpark of West Valley City. Starting pitcher Juan González was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. West Valley City pitcher Jonah Wellon got the win, upping his record to 2-1. Edel Teischer got the loss. West Valley City is now 31-86.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when West Valley City left fielder Yuji Kichida, facing Edel Teischer, had a run-scoring double. It gave the Grizzlies the 2-1 win.

"Juan was pounding the zone," said West Valley City manager Mike Kent.
