Frenchies Deal Stampede 5-1 Setback
|
Quebec City starter Rafael Padilla pitched well against the Calgary Stampede at Quebec City Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-1. José González, now 6-4, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. The Frenchies sit in second place in the Pacific Alliance Maple Leaf with a record of 68-42.
Had Kyle Sims not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Sims hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Frenchies.
In postgame remarks, Sims said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
