With center fielder Mike Sánchez leading the charge, the Kumamoto Mothra defeated the Calgary Stampede, 3-2, at Ibaraki Grounds. Sánchez, who is tied for 8th in the PCAL in stolen bases with 34, was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The 4th-place Mothra improved to 47-71.

Matsusuke Ishikawa won the game with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth. In the contest, the Kumamoto second baseman was 1-5.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Calgary skipper Mario García, "and it cost us."
