Dominant Performance by Yamaguchi in Palm Springs Win
|
Palm Springs and Tempe duked it out and the Codgers came out victorious.
The Palm Springs Codgers beat the Tempe Apollos, 3-0, at Elderberry Field. Starting pitcher Shigochiyo Yamaguchi was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Timothy O'Slattery earned save number 17.
Yamaguchi earned the win, going 7 strong innings for Palm Springs. The native of Kitakyushu, Japan, allowed just 1 hit, while striking out 8. Tempe hitters did next to nothing against the right-hander.
"Shigochiyo was throwing free and easy," said Palm Springs manager Bob Sullivan.
Today's win puts Palm Springs at 50-57, while Tempe falls to 58-50.
