Torres Fans 15 Kingpins
|
Emílio Torres of the Niigata Gigans put on a pitching clinic today at 7-10 Park as he struck out 15 Iowa City Kingpins in a 7-0 victory. Torres, who is tied for 7th in the RML with a 10.7 K/9 rate, was simply magnificent as he held the Kingpins to 4 hits. He walked 1.
"I felt okay at the beginning," Torres said, "but eventually my knuckle curve really started working. I also have to thank my catcher for calling a great game."
When asked about Torres's performance, Gigans manager Shigeaki Shiroi shook his head and said, "Yeah, he was good out there today. He was dominating."
This year Torres has compiled a 13-8 mark with a 3.30 ERA in 26 starts.
