Jorge Salinas was outstanding against Namuko. The left-hander, the first overall pick in the 2038 draft, had a cutter that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Gigans 2-1 win. The winner in relief was Mal Jones. He is now 8-5. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. The Gigans, at 72-64, sit in 4th place in the Rocky Mountain League Pacific.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Roland Wood came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Namuko pitcher Sul-shik Chong, he hit a 0-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Niigata on top, 2-1.

"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," Salinas told the Niigata Bulletin.
