With 2-1 Win, Wahoos Improve to 34-19
|
The Aruba Wahoos and Santo Domingo Decepticons put on a pitchers' duel.
Norbert Bowling was superb against Santo Domingo. The right-hander had a changeup that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Wahoos victory. The score was 2-1. Bowling went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered no hits, walked 7, and struck out 10. His record improves to 4-1.
Aruba used the timely hitting of Toshiro Hirose to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Wahoos ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We were in it," said Santo Domingo manager Yakamochi Suitani. "We just didn't score enough runs."
The current losing streak for Santo Domingo has reached 5 games.
