Escamilla, Lions Beat Calzones of Laredo, 16-4
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Amsterdam Lions stopped the San Antonio Calzones of Laredo, 16-4, at Elysian Fields. The Lions got a big game from Norberto Escamilla, who went 2-5 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. The loss makes San Antonio 44-71.
Amsterdam relied on the hitting of Freddy Ortíz to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lions on top, 16-4. For the game, Ortíz had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I haven't slept well in more than a week," said losing manager Roberto Ortega. "And when I do sleep, I dream about Elvis. Go figure."
